![]() ![]() This season, my go-to mindless casual game is Jewel Quest. And sometimes, I need something non-caffeinated, non-medicated… and, frankly, non-boozed to get me to relax a bit. Call it anxiety if you will, but my mind never stops thinking. Well, okay I’ll speak for myself…I do! Anyone who knows me in my personal life knows my mind goes in 17 different directions in a normal day. Only if you are a real fan of match-three tiles or love iWin games particularly, we suggest you to first go for the trial version and then only think of buying it.Sometimes, in our preoccupied lives we need games that are mindless time-wasters. It is nice to see iWin giving in so much variety to Sapphire Dragon's levels but this has made the game too complex for its own good and after a while really drags on you. With such a fierce competition and the problem of being branded as repetitive, developers these days all jumping on any good idea they can get. Anyhow, you can just read the narration and close the dialog box, no need to spend much time here. The audio given for the characters is nice but no animation to the characters is really disappointing. Talking about the graphical interface, we were treated to outdated graphic formats of static images and character models which pop out from the sides of the screen. You need to connect the path ends by making matches connecting the tiles that are already gold. You might also get a large board with a path of grey tiles set on it. Making matches near the edge of the board can unlock more grey tiles. The rest of the levels of the game fare much better providing variety to game play. However, if the freeze is in the top are of the board you have no way to defreeze it. It freezes half of your board and the only way to melt the ice is to bring a flaming tile near to it. ![]() A single boulder blocks four blocks whether there were gold tiles or not and they fall so frequently that you have that complete area obscured before you can make even one match. The large boulders I mentioned above is the worst offender. And this challenging is not in the good way. Sadly, some of these difficulties have been made too complex and challenging. Similarly if the game sees characters avoiding the falling rocks then large boulders start to fall crushing the gems underneath until they are completely obscured from the screen. ![]() For example if you team is trying to access a secret area then you have to play a board game where about half the board is cover in stones and rubble and only by making matches to them you will be able to see rest of the area giving you the chance to access the rest of board and make further match making. Going to higher level also discloses journal entries which help you to understand the shallow storyline.Īlong with the match making there are other stipulations in the game too and these have been cleverly matched to the game in progress. These abilities grow stronger when as your level increase for example the number of tiles turning to gold when you match five similar gems increases as well as the period over which you can do this increases. The bonus points count towards your experience and help you to upgrade your main characters to the next level.Įach of the character has a three capabilities which can be either passive for example the one which increases your points in the start of each level or active for example the "Random Gold" boost which turns a few random tiles gold when you make a match of 5 similar gems. Completing the task before time gives you bonus points depending on the remaining time. There are three levels to select from with one level having a time out option. To progress to the next level on the series you are asked by the Sapphire Dragon to convert all the board gray tiles to gold by matching the three most similar symbols on top of them. However Jewel Quest is still not out of the game and has came out with a new title, Jewel Quest: The Sapphire Dragon with loads of levels and a lengthy story line puts you with a group of adventurers who are in search of lost treasures while repelling the attacks of the pirates. Jewel Quest has been a well known name in match-three games, however with the arrival of newer flashier games in the market Jewel Quest has been largely overshadowed. ![]()
